Well, it's happened. Over the past few months our little boy has had six teeth come in (4 top, 2 bottom), and Adam has
marred personalized his beautiful, hand-crafted crib that we lovingly built just for him. I first noticed little teeth marks on the front rail and purchased a rail cover to protect the wood and finish (fortunately we used a baby-safe varnish). That didn't stop him from moving on to the curved side rails now. I'm not too distraught by this since I know it can be fixed. We built the crib ourselves, which means we have the stain and varnish on hand to someday sand down the top rails and refinish the wood... someday. In the meantime, we'll try to find some solution to protect further damage on the side rails.

On a related note, we will likely need to add another lower level for the mattress platform. We have the mattress on the lowest height now, according to the crib plans from which we built, but his shoulders are already higher than the front rail and he's only 10 months old. We assume he'll get taller in the coming months. And it doesn't help that he uses the bumper for an extra step up. It's probably time to remove that, too.
I forgot to mention that at Adam's 10-mo appointment he weighed in at 17 lbs., 9 oz. He has started to stand a few seconds without holding on to anything, too. Perhaps we'll have a walker by Christmas? Loving our peanut!
