The treat? My Aunt Angie spent the weekend with us while Daddy was out of town.
The trick? It was a total surprise!
Mommy and I hadn't made any plans while Daddy was away, but the weather was supposed to be great and the Cincinnati Zoo was doing a
On Saturday morning they took me to a place called Cookie Cutters, a haircut place for kids. Even though they had a playground in the lobby, I was on to their plan. They may have distracted me with the slide while we waited, but I knew what was up when they walked me to the back and strapped me into the chair disguised as a car. I was not happy, but I didn't fight. I was just resigned to being miserable while she trimmed my hair. (And I must admit, I do look quite handsome now.)
I guess Mommy thought I deserved a treat after all that so we went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and I got to play on another playground. After we ate I must have looked tired because Mommy and Aunt Angie started talking about what to do while I napped. They decided to try to go to the movies, and hopefully I would sleep during the film. Hmmm, this could either be an epic failure or a brilliant move. We settled into our theater seats for the previews and Mommy kept sushing me during the Puss in Boots preview -- I was really excited about that movie! Then the real movie started and we danced along to the Footloose opening credits. I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up the movie was almost over. It looked like a really fun movie, though! And since I was so good during the movie I got another treat -- a trip to a third playground!
On Sunday the HallZOOween festivities didn't begin until noon but we were at the zoo by 10, and Mommy had brought my costume just in case, not knowing what to expect. Everywhere there were kids dressed up, so just after we arrived I put my costume on, too. It has these funny webbed hands and my belly is so big! I was a frog (rib-bet!), and we saw a giraffe, a zebra, a chicken, and lots more costumes walking around.
We saw so many things! I played on a playground, rode the carrousel, and looked at lots of animals. Mommy loved the owl with the big, big eyes (Hooot!) and Aunt Angie showed me one of her favorites, the manatee.
When we left the zoo we dropped Aunt Angie off at her car to drive home, and as Mommy drove away I kept asking, "Where's Angie?" I missed her!
