Recovered

Whew, it's been an icky week in the Moreland household. Last Sunday we were all exposed to a stomach virus that has quickly made its rounds amongst our social circle. Adam caught it first, as kids tend to do, and came down with it on Tuesday. He was perhaps the happiest sick baby you've ever seen. Aside from the gross-ness (I'll spare you the details), you'd never guess that he was ill. He was still crawling and playing and smiling for all of us. This made it tricky, though, because each morning he seemed to be better, would make it most of the day, and then get sick. Some meals stayed down while others didn't. Then on top of worrying about Adam, his hydration, and nutritional needs, both Michael and I came down with it as well. We had plans to go to Ponte Vedra Beach for a few days to see family, but we had to postpone our trip until we felt better and were (hopefully!) less contagious.

While I anticipated this virus to be over in 24 hours, this one was nasty and hung on too long. I spoke with my sister-in-law Jenny, a nurse, and she said most viruses last 5-7 days!  I had my first-hand experience of feeling really crummy while still having to take care of a little one at the same time. No fun! All I kept thinking was that this is the way it will be for years to come -- passing around these little bugs to and from Adam's little friends and us as well. The good news is that on Sunday (Day 6), Adam seemed to be back to his old self (though still not too interested in solid foods) even if Mom and Dad aren't quite 100%.

So, yes, we made it to PVB after all, and so far Adam's little cousins haven't shown any signs of sickness. We have the Purell handy just in case.
