Discharged!

The magic hour rolled around and Sam had maintained his oxygen levels. We were cleared to go home!

2 months, 1 week
I picked up Adam (who knew Sam was in the hospital "getting almost better") and the two of us drove back to pick up Michael and Sam. After a very long week, our family was all together again!

A week ago at 2:30, we were settling into our room in the ICU. A week later at the same time, we were being discharged.

It may sound crazy, but I think Sam knows he's back home. The combination of a bath, his own super-soft pajamas and his own house seems to calm him. He coughs less frequently and is very content, and it must be nice not to be poked and examined or have beeping machines as background noise.

I wish I had the opportunity to properly thank the nurses and doctors who cared for our Sam. There were several that were exceptional and we appreciated their attentiveness, support and thoroughness. They are all special people.

I think it will take a few days to get back in a normal groove. We all have sleep to catch up on. Also, this will be the first week that Michael will be home with Sam while I return to the office. I think he'll probably need the prayers more than me!
