Sam, I Am One Month

In actuality, Sam was one month weeks ago. Truthfully he's much closer to two months than one month (already!), but with the holiday hectic-ness his update (along with Christmas and New Years updates) got dropped on the priorities list. Apologies.

At Sam's 1-month check-up, he weighed in at an even 11 pounds (85th percentile) and measured 22" long (75th %), with a head circumference of 40 cm (90th %). The doctor declared him to be "perfect."

Our baby is getting so big so fast. I've heard the second child seems to grow faster than the first, and this one is already starting bigger than his big brother! I've stored away the Newborn outfits and we've moved the straps up on his car seat already. The biggest joy is starting to see him smile and hear him coo. And I have my fingers crossed that he'll be a blue-eyed boy. I remember knowing right away that Adam's eyes were going to be brown. Sam's are still holding on to their gray-blue color, and I am hoping they stay bluish... something of me in this little man!

Adam is really great with Sam. He's never shown any animosity toward him, and the extent of his jealousy just involves him asking if "his Daddy can burp him" or if it's "Adam's turn" or to "hold me." He loves crawling up into Sam's crib but hasn't quite mastered getting back out. One afternoon I found this:

And since we're on the subject of Adam, he is now officially pacifier-free. He gave his paci to Santa "to give it to other children who don't have one." He went to bed with it Christmas Eve and woke up without it and hasn't cried over it since. We're so proud (and a little amazed) and how rational he was about giving it to Santa!

Oh, my two boys. My sister-in-law once told me if I want a snuggler, I should have boys. (Ironically, a palm reader told me in 2002 that I would have two boys!) If Sam is a cuddlebug like his brother, I have years of mommy bliss ahead of me!

And I'm still working on the recap of his birth experience. Well, that's not true. I started writing it all out as soon as we came home from the hospital and since then have logged memories in my Notes app as I think of them. I'll get around to consolidating them eventually. Oh, the second child.
