4th of July

Yes,  I know I'm behind on the July 4th blog post, but with our current state of unsettled living, blogging has taken a bit of a hiatus.

It's a bummer when Independence Day falls on a Wednesday. Had it been a Tues or Thurs I probably would have had a long weekend, but since it was a Wed, I only had the one day off. I decided to take a half day on Tuesday, and we hit the road for Georgetown and were there by 2pm for a change. The only thing on the agenda was to stay cool (guess you probably heard about our recent heat wave of 100-degree temps, or maybe you're experiencing them, too) and hang with family.

Turns out, kids don't care how hot it is as long as they are wet. We set up 2 slip-n-slides to make a real long one, and my brother-in-law borrowed this massive blow-up pool with slide for the little guys. Ok, for the other nephews. Adam wasn't too keen on the slide part but loved the tunnel under the slide. The adults sat in the shade, and honestly, the shade with a breeze was bearable.

Sometimes pictures just tell the story better, so let me "tell" you about our day:

With all the activity of the day Adam was asleep well before Firework-time, but Jake loved the sparklers. We hope everyone had a fun-filled Fourth, too!
