The Stockings were Hung

One of the Elder family Christmas traditions is to make stockings for new family members. It started with our Mom making each of our stockings, and over the years it extended to cousins as well. When my nephews were born Mom made them each one. As each of us married, there was a new stocking for our spouses at the next Christmas. Two years ago Kim and I thought it only fitting that Mom and Dad each have new stockings, too, so we set about making theirs. With two new little ones in the family this year, it was time to order a kit and get sewing. Much of my holiday stay in Illinois was spent stitching, sequining, and embroidering Adam's new stocking. It was down to the wire, but by 5pm on Christmas Eve, Adam's and Jake's stockings were complete!
