Surprise!!!

Over the years my family has had some pretty good surprises for one another. While a freshman in college Mom surprised me with a visit during a time that I was so homesick (she was living in Mexico then). A couple years later Angie and I drove to Ft Benning, Georgia to surprise her back when she was on a trip there. Just this last October we surprised Kim (well, kinda) with our visit to Kentucky. We are a close knit family that is unfortunately spread too far away these days, so any chance to make a surprise appearance is fun and exciting!

Friday night I spent the day at my parents' house decorating and prepping for Adam's party. Michael had gone out with some work buddies (or so I thought), and Mom and I had just finished decorating the cake. We had finally sat down, put up our feet, and then I hear a car door slam. Michael's home. Then another door slam. Hmm, interesting. I turn to look at the door and through the distorted glass I see a figure coming closer, then bending to look through the window. That kind of looks like... Then the door opens, and first I see Michael in the rear. Someone is with Michael. And then... ANGIE WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR!!

I jumped out of my seat while squealing "OH MY GOSH" is a high-pitched voice and ran to hug her. I just couldn't believe that she was actually here. She came just for the weekend to attend the party and to see one of her favorite nephews. Adam is blessed with some awesome aunts!

Unfortunately Josh and the boys were unable to make the trip this time, but being here on her own afforded Angie LOTS of Adam time. They shared a room, so Aunt Angie got to pluck him from his crib each morning. It is so much fun to watch her with Adam -- I could learn a few tips on how to be so silly with him. He responds so well to her!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Angie for coming to see us. It just re-emphasizes to me that we all should live closer together. You're right, we should live close enough to attend all the birthdays and celebrations, especially the First birthday. I made a comment that since Angie was on vacation, I was on vacation! She was so eager to look after our little man that I could just take a break and watch them.

I've now realized that since Adam's birth, we saw Auntie Angie and family in March, July, October, December and January. We need to figure out the next visit SOON! Thank you for helping to make Adam's birthday so special! We miss you already!
